The Legendary Onihime (伝説の鬼姫, Densetsu no onihime) is the 3rd episode of the Sket Dance anime.

Summary

Himeko encounters Momoka who claims to be the rumored Onihime. When Momoka and her gang tied up Himeko and beat her up, can Bossun and Switch save Himeko in time?

Plot

A trio of delinquent girls attack Himeko, but are easily defeated. Looking for a way to get revenge, they follow Himeko, Switch and Bossun and overhear a conversation about Himeko's field hockey stick being her trusty partner in battle. The girls decide to tell the information to their boss, Momoka.

The following morning, Himeko stands in as a temporary member of the Softball Team, scoring a home run. She subsequently gets angry at Bossun for attempting to eat her last Pelollipop Candy, and, frustrated, gathers her things to leave. Chiaki mentions having heard a rumor that the "Onihime" is causing trouble again - which immediately attracts the Sket Dan's attention. Chiaki adds that it must only be a rumor, as Himeko isn't the sort of person she used to be.

On her way home, an exhausted Himeko is accosted by the trio of delinquents again. However, when she opens her sports bag, she discovers that her field hockey stick has been replaced with Reality Maji's cynical stick. Worn out from her day and devoid of her usual weapon, Himeko is easily overpowered and knocked unconscious. She awakens some time later tied to a tree and meets the delinquents' boss Momoka - who is claiming to be the "Onihime." While Momoka and Himeko face off, Himeko's phone rings and is subsequently answered by the delinquent trio. On the other end are Bossun and Switch, who quickly realize that Himeko is in real trouble. When Momoka refuses to tell the boys their location and hangs up, it's up to Bossun and his Concentration Mode to piece things together based on the sounds in the background.

Just as an already-beaten up Himeko is about to receive a final blow from Momoka's baseball bat, Bossun and Switch arrive on the scene. Bossun knocks the bat from Momoka's hands with his slingshot and Switch unties and arms Himeko. Soon, Momoka and her gang are faced with the real Onihime, and she's in a foul mood. However, the terrified faces of victims in her past overlay on those of Momoka and her gang, and Himeko grits her teeth while giving them a scant few seconds to flee.

The next day, Momoka and her gang show up outside the Sket Dan's clubroom window. It turns out that Momoka had always been a big fan of the Onihime legend, and now she and her group have begun idol-worshiping Himeko.

Manga and Anime Differences

  • Censorship: In the manga, Momoka smokes a real cigarette. Compared to the anime, she has a candy cigarette in her mouth.
  • Himeko's capture scene: In the manga, the girls use tissue laced with anesthesia to knock out Himeko. The anime did not show that any use of that method.
